Default Untethered Jailbreak?

Word is that the 5.0 and later untethered JB for all Iphones is done.
They are waiting for 5.1 to be released, so Apple can't close the hole
beforehand. Meantime the tethered JB works fine, as long as you don't shut
your phone down when you're not at your computer.

Apple should have one official/documented jailbreak technique, and a way
for corporations to disable it when they wish to secure their employees'
phones.

Or Apple should just stop buckling to network operator pressures and
just prevent them from disabling features on the phone.

Apple should not endorse jailbreaking at all, and should completely ignore
it when updating iOS. If an update breaks a jailbreak, so be it.

I'm using Semitether and it's great.

Which is exactly what Apple already does.

I'm using the latest Redsnow, which works as well. I have to tell you I
was sweating it out on a recent trip away from home for 5 days. If I were to
run out of juice and my phone was unbootable, I would have killed myself.

Yup, and I trust they will continue to do so.

Semitether allows you to use your phone even if you find yourself in a
situation here you have to restart it without it being tethered to your
computer. Google it some time.

Please stop using that piece of crap news client! It does a couple very
bad things:

(a) It completely fucks up quoting in your replies, making it hard for
others to tell who said what.
(b) It doesn't honor the "-- " signature delimiter line, which means all
of you replies include everyone else's signatures.

Also, you are guilty of another bad thing. Please learn about and use
the "-- " signature delimiter line for your own signatures, so that the
rest of us who have the misfortune of replying to you don't have to
manually edit out your signature from our replies.

I have fixed the quoting and removed the signatures above. I don't
expect I will do this again. If you keep it up, I may just filter you
out so I never have to read or bother with your posts again.
