Default synching Contacts

Experimentally, I set my Contacts (Outlook on a Windows PC) to synch with
iCloud. Having played with it for a while, I would prefer to go back to synching
on my local pc.

However - there's now a message in iTunes saying synching with my pc will result
in duplicate data on my device (iPhone 3gs).

My contacts list is important to me, and I can't afford to have it muddled. Can
anyone shed any light on what actually happens when you revert to iTunes backup?

On my system iCloud created a new folder group called iCloud in
Outlook and put my synched contacts in there. I suggest you copy the
entire contents of that to another folder as a backup before you do
anything.

If found my contacts synched quite well between iCloud and Outlook.
The problem I had was with Internet Explorer favourites, which I
couldn't get to sync properly.

This is because you have your contacts set to sync twice--via iCloud
and via iTunes. Turn off sync in iTunes.
