Default Problem with iPhone Wireless MAC address

I use MAC filtering on my Linksys WAG54G ADSL Gateway. (Latest firmware)

When I enter my new iPhone 4 Wireless MAC address it returns the error
" The MAC Address cant be the Multicast address"

The Linksys site is no help!

don't bother with mac address filtering. it is easy to spoof and only
makes things more difficult, as you can see.

enable wpa encryption with a good passphrase. if you've already done
that, then mac address filtering doesn't offer you any benefit.

do not use wep, at all.

Unless you can’t give up using WiFi on your Nintendo video games.

Some WiFi access points support a dual band configuration where one can be
locked down WPA and the other with WEP but restricted to be a separate
subnet. That way, you can isolate anything that is more sensitive to a more
secure LAN.

What address are you entering? Does it match the one from
Settings->General->About->Wi-Fi Address on your iPhone?

I am 100% certain I am entering the correct address - it begins with 7C:
whereas all my other devices have MACs starting with 00:

OK well Apple does indeed have an Ethernet vendor code starting with
7C:6D:62. Also if it starts 7C then it is not a multicast address.
So either your router is utterly and totally broken, or you're somehow
entering the address in the wrong way.

then leave it on wep, but turn off mac address filtering. it's about as
easy to spoof as wep is to crack.

That does not actually answer the question posed above though, and it's
an important one.
