My kid's got an DSi, which can do WPA2. My Wii also. Or is that connected by cable. I can't remmeber off my mind.

Hunt around on the other config pages. Do you already have the same
address entered somewhere else? (Which maybe considered "multi-cast"
even if it’s labeled something else)

In other words, it's not trivial, but not extremely hard, either.

Anything that slows down someone looking for a free connection
is going to keep them out completely, as they need not go far
to find someone completely unsecured.

Now if they are targetting you specifically, slowing them down
probably won't help but it probably won't hurt, either.

it's actually easier. the mac address is sent in the clear. the rest is
encrypted, and with wep takes a minute or so to crack it.

it will stop the casual drive-by but so will wep. there's no point in
having *both*. anyone who can crack wep is not going to be the least
bit slowed down by mac address filtering.

if someone is targeting you specifically, you have far, far bigger
problems to worry about.

Think about it. If your desire to get into my system is sufficient that
you sit around and wait for someone else to get in, then make the effort
to spoof their MAC, then take the time to crack the WEP, then when that
doesn't work it will probably not take long for you to figure out why
(but I'm not telling) and then you'll be in.

And what will you get for all that effort? Internet access, nothing
more, that you could have gotten more easily from several wide-open
SSIDs in the neighborhood.

the point is that mac address filtering adds nothing if you have some
other form of protection, even if it's wep.

bluetooth to your iPhone or other BT device?
