Default Mailbox subfolders on IMAP

Is it just me or is it not possible to create subfolders under the INBOX
on an IMAP account?

I've already got several subfolders that the iPhone can see, and I can
create new folders elsewhere, just not under the INBOX.

Can anyone else see this limitation too or is it just me?

It's definitely possible; though whether you are allowed to create
folders depends on how your mail service provider has configured the
mail server.

E-mail sent to this address may be devoured by my very hungry SPAM
filter. Due to Google's refusal to prevent spammers from posting
messages through their servers, I often ignore posts from Google
Groups. Use a real news client if you want me to see your posts.

How? I don't see the INBOX on the iPhone folder list when I'm creating
a folder.

I've got a bunch of existing subfolders under the INBOX, and can create
such folders from Thunderbird, just not iOS 5.

You can't create them from within the iOS 5 Mail application as far as I
know. If your ISP allows you to create them from a web-based email
facility, you could probably create them from within the iOS 5 Safari
application though.

It looks as if "there's an app for that":

And there may be others...

There seems to be a free Lite version available as well:

iOS 5 added folder management capabilities, you can delete folders,
create new folders anywhere except as a subfolder of the Inbox.

I stand corrected then.
