Default Mac-to-iphone and mac-to-ipad wireless syncs

I have accidentally discovered that it is possible to sync Mac iTunes
to either iPad2 or to iPhone4 without either of themn being plugged in.

No accident.

But only if you have iOS 5.

Interesting. I wonder what Apple could have done differently to let
you know about that ability. Forced you to read the upgrade list
when you got IOS 5? (Do people read the pop up screens they say
they read to continue?).

I don't remember how I found out - but remember that I had been
anticipating the upgrade for months ahead of time just for that
ability.

It was touted as one of the features of iOS 5 at the product announcement.

I don't read that crap. One of these days an ISO update is going to
have a feature or a pref or a back-page app that, if you read the
changes and improvements and know about it, will make you a god and I'm
going to miss out because I tapped through all the important stuff.

I have known about it since IOS 5 came out; I must have read about it
on MacNN or MacWorld or another Mac news site.

When I discovered the wireless sync, it said in no uncertain terms that
the IOS devide had to be plugged in for the sync to work. My
accidental discovery was that this was not true for the iPad or iPhone.
It synced without plugging in the device.

I had never read this anywhere.

You misread it.

Either you misunderstood what you read, or what you read was incorrect.
Who wrote what you read?

If you read it in the User's Guide, it said that after you enable it
(which you can only do with USB plugged in), you can trigger it if
(1) iTunes is running, and (2) you either plug it into power or tap
the Sync Now button.
