No. Siri is only a feature of the iPhone 4S so far.

I haven't seen anything which clearly explains why it is limited to the
4S. Marketing is a likely explanation: it gives a compelling new feature
to encourage people to upgrade to the iPhone 4S.

If there are no technical issues which would prevent Siri working on
older models, then it may be introduced later. I think it is more likely
to be limited to newly introduced models in each family, i.e. iPad 3,
and possibly next year's iPod Touch.

There may be extra hardware features in the 4S which are required by
Siri. Several likely candidates:

- Additional signal processing hardware. (If so, Siri will never be
offered on older iPhone models, nor on any existing iPod Touch or iPad.)

- Much more firmware storage capcity, to hold code and/or data needed
for language interpretation. Other models are unlikely to have enough
free space in their firmware flash to add a significant amount of data.
We won't know how big the iPhone 4S firmware is until Apple releases
updates after iOS 5.0.

- Minimum RAM requirements. Only the iPhone 4 and iPad 2 have as much
RAM as the iPhone 4S (512 MB).

- Minimum CPU speed. Of existing devices, only the iPad 2 is faster than
the iPhone 4S. The iPhone 4, iPad 1 and iPod Touch (4th gen) won't be
far behind.

Siri has been available and working for 3GS and 4 . Apple has or will
disable existing instances if this app in order to mistakenly influence
upgrading to the 4s.

Bad move. It will backfire on them.

apple says it's 'beta' so presumably when it's final it will appear on
other hardware. an ipad 2 has the same cpu and memory as the iphone 4s
(and a little faster too), so it should be able to run on it.

a less capable version has been.

they sold 1 million iphone 4ses on launch day, a little less than twice
as many as last year's iphone 4 launch. that's not what one would call
a backfire.

Apple says Siri (this version, not the old one that already runs on earlier
iPhones, but has less intelligence), needs the A5 processor.

For those who don't have a existing functioning version of Siri that Apple
will disable, and the MacSheep that could never imagine Apple doing them
wrong then yes, it may not backfire.

Those A5 chips was given new opcodes for various things such as image
processing and I assume sound. If the Siri software is compiled to make
use of those A5 specific opcodes, then it woudln't work on the Iphone4.

Remains to be see if iPad2 would get it.

I am sure they could get it compled for the iphone4, but it might not
perform well enough.

Unless Apple releases it for the 4, we won't know the real reasons
(technical or marketing) for not releasing it for the 4.

I still have the old Siri app on my iPhone 4, and it works just fine.

Nope, it hasn't been disabled. I just used it to find out how many
ounces are in a pound on my iPhone 4 running iOS 5.
