Default I'll be damned, OS 4.1 really does seem to help the 3G

Just installed 4.1, and at least the Google and Wikipanion apps,
which
were p--a--i--n--f--u--l--l--y s--l--o--w under 4 seem to be tolerable
now.

Camera is much quicker to load as well. Not sure about messaging and
calendar but Contacts seems to load quicker. I'll monitor before making my
decision as to whether to go to iPhone 4

I've been using if for a day now, and everything I've tried is
markedly faster.

Ironically, I was planning to upgrade to an iPhone 4 before OS 4
came out, mostly to get 32 Gbytes, but then I was so pissed at
what I saw as their attempt to purposely obsolete the 3G
that I didn't. I guess it's the old saying "never attribute to
malice that which can be explained by incompetence".

That's normal, but then it should "discover it" again a moment later.

If not, if you are running a PC, try uninstalling the "Apple
Mobile Device" from your software list. It will reinstall
when you connect the iPhone, and hopefully flush whatever
is causing the problem. I've had to do this a handful of
times to fix bizarre syncing problems.
