Has anyone else found that synching to iCloud mucks up email account server
settings?

Specifically: I use Outlook on a windows 7 PC, and an iPhone 3GS running ios5.
After backing up to iCloud I suddenly stopped being able to send emails, either
from the iPhone or from my PC.

After an irritating couple of hours testing, I spotted the culprit -
authorisation had been disabled for my outgoing server.ie the "authentification
required" button in Outlook had been unchecked. Somehow this had been repeated
on both devices. No, I didn't accidentally do it myself - it's too complicated a
procedure to do by accident.

Anybody else had this? Think I'll go back to backing up and synching via iTunes...

Why is it anyone would willingly engage in "cloud" anything?

Because like all tools, this one has some advantages (as well as
disadvantages) compared to others.

Or because we're not all luddites and can decide for ourselves whether
the rewards outweigh the risks.
