Hello!

My client's old Palm Treo 680 is dying and he needs to replace it very
soon. He already made recent data backups (also has Chinese characters
with CJKOS from http://www.dyts.com/en/products.html ) to his very old
Windows 2000 SP4 desktop PC and 3.5 years old MacBook Pro's Mac OS X
10.5.8 through their Palm softwares (HotSync, PalmDesktop, etc.).

After getting an iPhone, what's the best way to import/migrate all these
old Palm Treo 680 datas to his upcoming new unlocked iPhone 4? Will we
have to export and import everything manually as shown in
http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb/.../28734_en.html ?

I migrated from Palm to an iPhone a long time ago. As I recall, I
exported my contacts from Palm Desktop into Address Book as vCards. I
had to do lots of clean-up work in Address Book afterwards because not
all of the fields matched up. I used little AppleScripts I wrote to do
some of that cleanup work. I believe I did similar for iCal, etc. Search
around the net a little and you'll find some instructions:

Contacts:

....and so on.

If you run into any jams along the way, feel free to post specific
questions here and I'll be glad to help out as best I can, from memory.

OK, I just imported Contacts and Date Books to Address Books and iCal.
Indeed they were messy!

Were do exported Palm's Memos and To Dos go into in Mac OS X 10.5.8?

I heard on a podcast that there's a company that sells a set of
utilities, including one to clean up bad contacts and one to clean up
bad calendar events. Should be easy to find if you suspect you may
have dirty events.

Not worth the trouble IMO. I managed to clean mine up after the import
from Palm Desktop in just under 30 minutes with a little bit of crafty
scripting.

Do you still have the script? There are about 500 entries for iCal's
import and Date Book goes about a decade.

Doesn't the Treo support Exchange? Just create a throwaway Gmail or
Hotmail address, add the account as an Exchange account on the Treo,
(server is m.google.com or m.hotmail.com) which uploads all of the
Contacts and Calendar data (correctly) to the server, add that same
account to the iPhone and let it download the data.

A script to do what? What is it you need to fix?

According to
http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb/.../41579_en.html ... yes
but it only seems to be for e-mails only? Another problem is the
sensitivity in data and don't really want to upload them. I wished there
was a local way to do this.
