Default Font size for iPhone 3GS

Not sure if this has been discussed before but is there any way to change
the font size in the iPhone 3GS ??

I have looked through the settings but can't find anything.

I have a friend who is far sighted and needs to have a larger font.

TIA.

No. Some apps have font size controls, some don't.

Some can change by "reverse pinch" and some can't.

AFAIK, no way at all to affect all from a system screen.

Tell your friend to read this page carefully in case any of it might
help them:

Unfortunatly, the font size setting in "Accessibility" doesn't even
apply to all the text in applicable applications.

It applies to text you type in the body of the message, but the To: and
Subject fields still use a microscopic font that requires a magnifying
glass for anyone older than a teenager.

Same with contacts where the phone number is shown in minuscule font and
not affected by the setting (and this is where you want large font so
you can edit long and complex dialing sequences)

The Opera application recently removed the font size setting. As a
result, many web sites are unreadable and you need to constrantly
zoom/pan like in Safari. That was the one big advantage Opera had and
they got rid of it.

I realise that the iToys are targetted to young people with perfect
eyesight, but why should I have to start wearing glasses when the only
problem I have is when using certain apps on the iPhone ?

Thanks JR. Me thinks just might help.

I almost hate to interrupt your rant, but I am 57
and have no problem with either of those fields.

Last time I checked, my vision was about 20/700
but my glasses work OK.

Now, there are OTHER places on the device where
I have to remove my glasses and hold the thing
three inches from my eyes.

I wear trifocals and have cataracts, and have little or no problem reading
text on the iPhone and iPad.

Maybe if you tried to actually use the devices instead of constantly
whinging about them, you might have a better user experience.

Aside from the other suggestions, when is your friend due for an
upgrade? The iPhone 4 and 4s have higher-resolution displays that make
the text easier to read even at smaller sizes. If this is a possibility,
visit an Apple store and compare the 3GS screen to one of the newer ones
to see if it's enough to matter.

There might also be iPhone cases around that magnify the display ... could
be a market niche some manufacturer might want to get into since most
countries are moving to an older average age.
