No, that screen also has an 'i' button that shows two pieces of info
about the phone.

it's been a while since i've seen an activate screen. i only remember
the slider that said emergency calls.

Well, my old 3G has that "connect to iPhone" screen now; because of this
thread, I looked at it, noticed the "i" icon, and tapped it. Otherwise, I
wouldn't have known about it either.

Aha. Thanks. I didn't know that. And since I am an old bugger with a
bad memory and no other phone in the house, that would be handy when I
cant remember where I put the phone down

Just as aside, the iPad seems to have a very sensitive GPS setup - even
inside my house (timber with a steel roof) it gets good satellite
reception - even my Garmin Nuvi GPS doesn't do that
