Default Don't touch the antenna!

Copied directly from the user manual:

Your device may have internal and external antennas. Avoid touching
the antenna area unnecessarily while the antenna is transmitting or
receiving. Contact with antennas affects the communication quality
and may cause a higher power level during operation and may reduce
the battery life.

nokia has the gall to criticize apple, when their phones do exactly the
same thing.

here's a video of the e71 and how it's held:
<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amPG52DVQuk>

and the nokia 2320:
which-boil-down-to>

every cellphone has a similar warning.

only apple gets slammed.

Funny, how fanbois want to elevate the iSteve to the level of a God, and
Apple to some sort of ideal, then get angry when others hold them to it.

that's an odd interpretation.

if you touch the antenna of *any* cellphone, it's not going to work
properly. physics is funny that way. that's why *all* cellphones have
warnings not to do that, especially nokia who had the gall to make an
issue out of it.

the only reason people are getting angry is because apple is being held
to a different standard that does not apply to anyone else. bunch of
fucking hypocrites.

Apple has a different _design_ from everyone else.
Is the antenna Nokia warns us not to touch wrapped around the entire device?

yea and? no two phones are exactly alike.

it's inside but touching the area around it will affect it. that's why
there are warnings to not touch those areas.

look at the diagram:

Irrelevant.

Again, irrelevant; on both the Nokia and the Apple, it's touching it only
in a certain spot. Actually, on the Nokia, it's touching it on either of
two certain spots.

True. But an exposed antenna is far more susceptible to this problem. The
further you hand is from the antenna, the less the problem. Even a thin
case virtually eliminates it. So why not an antenna just inside the outer
case?

Esthetics. Jobs wanted it to look a certain way. His "vision". The physics
of electromagnetics took a back seat to the iSteve's "vision", and his
customers suffer for it.

I'd still buy one, but it yet another example of the iSteves extreme
arrogancee.

Again, yes, Apple is held to a higher standard. They advertise themselves
as caring and portray a certain image. Just like the evangelist preachers
that do drugs with gay prostitutes, all the while condemning those who do
the same. When they get caught, they get crucified, as they should be.
Notice, no one cares that Drew Carey hangs out with strippers and
prostitutes? It rarely even makes the scandal sheets. He doesn't pretend to
be holy, or comdemn others doing what he does. If you present yourself as
above all that, or better than others, you better damn well live up to it,
or face much deserved castigation, a la Tiger Woods.

There's another, maybe better, reason why Apple is held to such a high
standard. It's you fanbois. There are so many of you running around, acting
superior to PC/Droid/Evo users, that you create an atmosphere in which
others just can't wait to see your God fall. The PC/Mac ads were a perfect
example of that. Helpless, hapless PC and Mr Smug. I, and millions of
others, would have loved to wipe that smug look off his face. But you
fanbois loved it. It epitomized your view of the tech toy world - smug. You
have the inside track, the key to techie nirvana. Pretty much like those
evnagelist preachers I mentioned above. You elevate Apple and the iSteve to
the heights of heaven, then get pissed when you're shown their feet of
clay.

Where are the antennas on Nokia phones? Do they put them where normal
people with normal hands can hold the phone in a normal manner without
touching them?
