For various reasons, I now have four dock cables even though I only have
two iP*s _One_ of those cables is doing something weird. Either the insulation is growing or the cable is shrinking. The insulation at the big end sticks down past the end of the plug and folds back to where the cable joins the plug. And it got that way gradually. It had to crack to keep from bunching up at the plug, so I can peek inside. As far as I can tell, there is absolutely no damage to the shielding. The cable still does what it is supposed to do, charging and syncing. I'm not aware of treating this cable any differently from the rest. Well, I have probably had it in my pocket a few more times than the others. ?!? -- Wes Groleau Be spontaneous … today http://Ideas.Lang-Learn.us/BlindDog?itemid=3984 |

I've had several of these cables Well, to nitpick, I think it is the insulation and not the shielding. But I never heard of insulation that grows in length and not in diameter. I've used "shrinktube" before. That's a plastic tube that shrinks in diameter when heated. > since purchasing a couple iPhone 3Gs way back when. Nearest Apple store is more than 150 km and I try to stick to pedal power. -- Wes Groleau Be spontaneous … today http://Ideas.Lang-Learn.us/BlindDog?itemid=3984 |

They can set up a replacement method that works for you. Thanks! (Now I have to decide whether it's worth the trouble. The thing still works....) -- Wes Groleau German Teachers http://Ideas.Lang-Learn.us/WWW?itemid=81 |
