Default closing all the "running" apps at once

Seems like when I'm wishing there was a way to get something done, whoosh
it appears on Cydia. I was thinking how annoying it is to keep closing down
all the open "links" on the multitasking bar one by one. Just popped up an
app that closes them all at once with one push of my choice. Nothing major,
but one more reason I'm happy being jailbroken.

Yeah, 'Remove Recents'

Add the SinfuliPhone repo and install 'Multifl0w cracked' and 'Disable iOS4
MultiTasking' .... way better than the crappy native 4 switching.

I don't bother to close them; don't see the need.

I would have expected a running app to be automatically closed after a
certain amount of time of not being used (say, 5 minutes?) What's the logic
in leaving them open (or at least, having them appear in the running tasks
list)?

apps are suspended, so it doesn't matter if it's 5 minutes or 5 days.
they are not running, except for specific types of apps such as
background audio or gps navigation.

the list is not running tasks, it's recently used apps. the user might
want to go back to an app they used the day or week before, and since
it's suspended, it instantly resumes. if it had been shut down, it
would need to relaunch, which is slower.

Some people would try to go to that list and wonder why an app that they
left open wasn't there any more.

iTunes won't sync changes in email account settings
when the accounts on the phone are "in use"

Which implies that every app on that list is consuming a certain amount of
resources. It would be nice to be able to control it so those resources were
freed when the app is closed. When I run an app for the first time on my
iPhone, I don't notice any delay - it's pretty much instant.

it won't unless it's something that runs in the background like audio
streaming.

The thing is that I don't know exactly what each app does in the
background and how much data it would/could consume. So I would rather
not risk it.

I know that for Apple push notification, if the app is NOT running on
the iphoen anymore, the push notification will issue a message to the
user about some new "incoming" item and give me the option to start the
app which would then process this item (aka: consume data).

But when the app is running in background, I am not sure exactly what
the policy is.

In fact, if you roam, you'd want to turn off any/all push notifiocation
communications because every kilobyte will cost you dearly.
