Default App Store Woes

Is it just me, or has anyone else found the App Store to be painfullly slow
lately? If you can connect to it at all?

A couple of days ago, it took me 15-20 minutes to download a 10 mb app I
bought, and that's approaching dial-up modem speeds!

Tonight I can barely connect at all and it won't even take my password.. I
don't think it's an AT&T problem... I have all the bars showing, but I could
be wrong, I suppose. I know I am not obstructing the antenna by holding the
Iphone 4 the infamously wrong way... I tried setting it down on a table, and
still no joy.

I guess the server could be overloaded what with all the new Iphones, Ipads,
etc. Who knows.

Just wondering if anybody else was having problems.

the only problems i've had is the long standing problem where it tells
you there are updates and then downloads the exact same version you
already have (two tonight), or it removes the app icons before you have
a chance to click on them.

maybe i can find a lawyer for a class action lawsuit. apparently that's
the thing to do.

I've had that problem many times too. It's frustrating.

The last couple of days, though, and this has never happened to me before
with my 3Gs, or when I first got the IPhone 4, I can barely connect to the
app store on the phone, and it's slow as molasses when I do. Tonight when
I tried to access the store on my desktop computer via ITunes, it won't
connect at all, and I keep getting some Error 8003 after refusing over and
over again to accept my password, which I know I"ve typed in correctly.

Sigh......

First time I've had all this trouble. I've had problems downloading new
IPhone OS versions from the update server, but never downloading apps from
the store.

I usually use the computer as well.

Actually it's been oddly fast here recently, even on the iOS 4 release I
was seeing 60Mb+ speeds, and scanning the store is reasonably fast both
from iTunes and the device.

To be honest, it's a nice change.

Searching is still somewhat painful though, and the latency between when
apps start appearing in parts of the world, become available in the
whole world, actually become downloadable and become searchable seems to
be increasing, but this likely just indicates there are a lot more
AppStore servers now and that Apple's engineers haven't figured out a
technique to keep everything in sync.

Hmmm.... interesting. It seems to be at its slowest here in the late
afternoon and evenings. I guess it could be an AT&T thing. I"ll have to
go try it on WiFi and see what happens.

I agree that searching can be cumbersome at times.

The speed drops correlate with peak personal internet usage so maybe all
those new iPad and iPhone 4 users are slowing it down when they get home
from work.

I think you're probably right. It is better late at night or early morning.
