Default app downloads/updates from App Store hanging

iPhone 4, running iOS5.0 (will probaby update to 5.0.1 and
hope that that clears this up)

Several apps in the app store indicate updates available.

Update All, update one, or buy an app (I wanted to buy the
Airport Utility) -- and the iPhone switches to the screens
full of apps, the app(s) in question appear with the download
progress bar in place as if downloading from the App Store -
and nothing.

I can't even interrupt it. Tap on an icon with such a progress
bar and it says "paused". Tap again and same hanging.

I've tried rebooting the iPhone (hold down both buttons long
enough for the whole thing to go on its own ), I've explicitly
quit apps including the AppStore app (click-click, tap on
the x of recently active apps -- this has "unstuck" certain
apps in the past, particularly Safari).

No go.

Anyway, if anyone has any other suggestions, I'd love to
hear them. Hopefully the 5.0.1 update will fix this, but
that's not a very reassuring hope.

Thanks

This doesn't sound like a typical problem. I've downloaded literally
dozens of updates since the OS5.0 upgrade with no problems,
and I can't find any other complaints.

I would recommend you try:
- Go to "Setting->Store", click on your apple ID and log out.
- Go to the app store and try to update apps. This will force you
to log back in with your Apple ID and password. That might fix
some subtle authentication problem.

If that doesn't work, try:
- go to "Settings->general->Reset->Reset network settings"
That's fixed some bizarre problems for me in the past, but be warned,
it will make it "forget" all the WiFi networks you have; you will have
to
reconnect to them and enter any passwords or WEP keys.

I had, too -- until yesterday.

No love.

Rebooted device. Everything's still "waiting..."

Damn. Really getting annoying.

Crap - I think I may have cracked it. I had about a dozen
podcasts queued up for download in iTunes and that was hung.
I went and deleted them all from the queue and now it looks
like some of the apps are moving along.

Seriously bizarre problem to have. Thanks for the help.
