This is what I found with another similar utility, which I had to pay for, too. When it has made the file, it directs you to a Youtube video showing how to so the Itunes bit. UTTERLY F*CKING BIZZARE. Bizzarely, the Iphone does not have the totally obvious function for creating a ringtone from a piece of music already stored on it. Anyway, I have solved this and a pile of other stupid Iphone issues by jailbreaking it. The IOS 5.01 JB works perfectly. I can now use Iphone Explorer (whose directory access, pre-JB, was limited) to access every part of the Iphone file system, drag/drop ringtones directly into the Library/Ringtones directory, copy application data freely, etc. Absolutely brilliant and I highly recommend it. Just make sure that you have made an Itunes backup of the phone, if still within warranty, so you can restore it before you take it back to the shop. Here it is http://blog.iphone-dev.org/ |

You can do it right from iTunes. No extra software is needed. And there's really no need to jailbreak for that either. Also, iTunes lets you manage ringtones separately from other music / video content, which is quite handy. <http://osxdaily.com/2010/09/04/make-free-iphone-ringtones-in-itunes-10/> -- Send responses to the relevant news group rather than email to me.
