I am correct, however, about the warning message. Can anyone explain why I receive this message when others apparently do not? Also, as suggested, can I check "Sync Tones," ignore the warning, and not have my music and photos deleted? Check the settings Devices > Summary > Options. I do not manually sync my music and I do not get the warning. I can also sync only Selected tones. So I can install just one tone at a time. John |

I agree, iTunes can be a bitch when it's not working for you. I had a similar issue when I upgraded my 4S from 16G to 32G. iTunes didn't recognize the music library on my new phone (my backup was lost when my drive crashed) which they had transferred at the Apple Store, and when I went to sync, warned me it would erase almost all my music (11.5G) and most of my apps. The apps I wasn't worried about as much, I knew I could get them back somehow. But I didn't want to rip a hundred CDs again. I wonder if that's what's happening to you. Look under the Store menu, you'll find "Authorize Computer". If you want more detailed instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1848 |

Syncing to iTunes does not remove jailbroken stuff. Try harder next time. -- Send responses to the relevant news group rather than email to me.
