Default A5 Jailbreak

just used the new A5 untethered jailbreak on my three A5 ios devices and
Absinthe worked great for me.

#1 32 GB unlocked from apple iPhone 4S (T-Mobile Wi-Fi only no data plan)
#2 16 GB AT&T iPhone 4S
#3 32GB iPad 2 Wi-Fi and 3G (no data plan at the moment)

As always I find iclarified is the best site for me to find info.

Nice. Still using an iPhone 4 here (untethered jailbreak as well). Wish
I had a iPhone 4S to jailbreak, but I'm making myself hold out for the
5. : )

Me too, except for the jailbreak part.

The jailbreak isn't really all *that* important to me, but is frosting
on the cake. I mainly want just a couple things that plain vanilla iOS
doesn't give me:

* copies of all of my voicemail messages stored on my computer as an
archive so I can listen to them any time I want in the future

* the ability to use my phone as a wireless access point or
USB/Bluetooth connection to the internet through a WiFi connection on
occasion

I don't get voice mail important enough for that.

That's why I have a G3 iPad. But I've activated the G3 only once in the
nine months I've owned it; that was when I was on a trip and knew that I'd
be needing that access.

After my father passed away, I would have loved to have had all of his
voice mails. That holds true even today. Never say never. ; )

JB is not all that important...Its a want and for me it's fun! It does
not have to be important. I always JB my iPhones for a few trivial
things I want and that make my iPhones a little bit more user friendly
for me. I have owned seven iPhones and never had any bad effect from a
JB.

Thats the beauty of the iPad...just pay for the G3 when you want/need
it. The JB works fine on my iPad 2 and I use the same trivial apps as I
use on my iPhones that make use a little better for me.

That said the new JB released today has been out less then 24 hours...I
may have three A5 device bricks in the morning.

I know! My dad was a minister and I sure am glad to have many of his old
sermons on tape and my Mom playing the piano. I'm sure voice mails like
that would be very nice to have.

I understand. My mom died 35 years ago, and my dad died 15 years ago, and
all I have of them are photos and home movies, plus a few important odds
and ends (e.g., needlepoint pictures mom made, dad's WWII dog tags and
diary).

You can do that without jailbreaking. Install "iPhone Backup Extractor"
<http://supercrazyawesome.com/>
Extract "IOS Files" and look in "IOS Files/Library/Voicemails". The
".amr" files are your voicemail messages. They will play with
Quicktime Player. You may need Perian
<http://www.perian.org>
for playback.
