Yeah, but with jailbreaking, you don't have to spend an extra $20 a month.

Not the way I want to do it. The way I have it set up now is whenever my
iPhone is on my Wifi network, an automated script transfers the current
messages to my computer periodically without any direct action on my
part. It's automatic. I don't have to worry about forgetting. And it's
highly scripted - even looks up the phone numbers in my computer's
Address Book and names the files with people's name etc.

I don't have to pay for it right now. Your "solution" would have me
paying an extra $20 per month for the "privilege". No thanks.

Default A5 Jailbreak

Does the new jailbreak that works on the 4s also work on previous
iphones, or will those retain their old jailbreak software/methods ?

I have a heap of old 16mm, 8mm and super-8 from as early as my
dad's childhood (just a few of the old 16mm). I've spent up to
get a whole heap of that all moved to DV tapes and then moved
most of it up to spinning digital media (iMovie). Getting that
stuff converted was one of the best investments I've ever made.

I realized a few things about it which I hope I can do better
with when I make video and such for my kids and eventually
my grandkids. There are two things missing from that stuff,
only one of which really had to be the case: (a) audio and
(b) most of the footage is of the kids. Can't do anything
about audio - they just didn't have the technology, I guess.

When I watched the old movies, especially of my own childhood,
the ratio of footage of kids to adults is like 10 (or more) to 1.
I don't need to see quite so much of myself as a child but
I really with I could see a lot more of my parents, aunts,
uncles and especially grandparents (and great grandparents).
Naturally, when the filming was done, the adults were most
excited about filming the kids (and the kids were a lot
less likely to mind being filmed).

I've got a half a dozen audio casettes I need to get up
into digital media before they decompose. That'll be
the only chance I have to hear my grandmother and I know
there's just not that much of it there. Thanks for the
reminder that I need to get this done.

Depends on your carrier. No extra charge here (Fido Canada).

Me 2.... What would you like to see in a 5? I'd be happy
with a bigger display.

I'd only want a bigger display if the size of the phone was roughly the
same. I definitely wouldn't want a huge-ass phone like my Android-using
friends have to deal with. Thy can't touch parts of the phone with one
hand without really stretching to do it. No thanks. The iPhone is just
the right size. It could maybe go a *little* bit bigger, but not much.
Beyond that, more speed would be nice. More updated Bluetooth goodness
is always appreciated. Better battery life too. I currently have to
charge every coupe days. It's be nice to b able to go a week; though I
know that's asking a lot.
