I'd hope that the iPad 3 will have somewhat improved cameras compared to the iPad 2. At a minimum, the front camera should be upgraded to the specs of the current rear camera, allowing 720p video resolution for FaceTime. The rear camera would probably be upgraded at the same time. At a minimum, that should mean 1080p video, but possibly still as low as 1.3 or 2 megapixels for still images. Omnivision have announced a 5 megapixel camera camera that should fit in an iPad. The question is whether Apple will use it. Apple needs to be able to get them in sufficient volume and at a low enough price, and Apple has to consider that having such a high resolution camera can be justified in an iPad. If you want such a camera, send feedback to Apple, explaining WHY you think a camera resolution that high would be a good idea. http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html -- David Empson dempson@actrix.gen.nz |
