Default wifi sync

Somehow my question got off topic and I never got an answer. When I
connected my iPad to my PC and checked the box to sync via wifi, and then
disconnected the iPad, a message popped up saying the iPad was detected and
should be reconnected. Is that what it's supposed to say, or is something
wrong?

sync by Wi-Fi is supposed to be done connected to a power supply not the
PC-USB

But you have to connect the iPad or iPhone via USB in order to set up sync
by WiFi.

EXACTLY ! But when I connected USB to set up the sync by WiFi and then
disconnected the iPad/iPhone, that's when I got the message that the deivce
was recognized and should be reconnected. Still can't seem to get an answer
as to what, if anything, is wrong.

I can't explain it; it doesn't happen with my system, not with either the
iPad nor with the iPhone.

Thanks for the confirmation Michelle. Do you have a clue what that might
be?

Sorry, but no; I couldn't reproduce your problem.

It's a bug. OPnce I enabled WiFi sync, if I do plug in, when I unplug,
even though syncing was NOT happening, I get that pop-up and ignore it.

This is probably a useless answer since I know nothing about PC's, but
my sister in law came over today to have me give her moral support while
she upgraded to iOS5.01 on her iPhone. She brought a Win7 laptop with
her that had Quicktime and iTunes upgraded beforehand, and all went well.
She didn't know when to unplug her iPhone. She wanted to do it sooner
than she should have.
My simple question is: "Did you allow enough time for all data to pass
to and from your computer and your iPad before disconnecting"?
Otherwise, I'd do it again.
