Why are there Apple fanbois but no M$ fanbois?

Whatever else you might say about them, Apple turns out consistently high
quality consumer products. In this day and age, that is extremely unusual.
You can buy high quality cars, or houses, or guns, but consistently high
quality consumer products from a company are rare. At one time, Sony,
Panasonic and others achieved this, but now sell products with widely
varying levels of quality. Apple is the only company I can think of
(someone jump in here and remind me of someone else, if there is one) that
delivers this kind of quality to these consumer markets.
Unfortunately, these high quality products being so rare these days have
created a following which, not being used to these kinds of products, have
gone over the top and ascribed characteristics and attributes to Apple and
the iSteve that are figments of their imagination. Neither Apple nor Jobs
are perfect, or "don't care about the money". They care very much. They're
just smart enough to know that there's a niche in today's markets for high
quality/high price products because virtually everyone else is cranking out
junk to "compete" with the others who are cranking out junk. Hence,
fanbois, who refuse to see both sides of the company and the genius who
created it. They idealize both beyond reason, and defend them both beyond
believability. They defend them even to the point of denying the premium
price we pay for these premium products.
As a result of the fanbois existence and extremist defence of their God,
come the trolls. Any time someon goes around evangelizinig about their
deity, someone will take exception and derive considerable delight in
pointing that God's feet of clay. I won't deny that I do. As a long time
lover of putting burrs under saddles, these forums are paradise. Any time
I'm feeling a bit cranky, I can just come in here, make a critical yet
truthful statement about Apple or the iSteve, and get dozens of these
people jumping up and down and shouting denials so forcibly that they are,
in themselves, proof that what is being said is true. Another great example
of "me thinks thou dost protest too much". And a hoot!
