Default when I change background to black with white letters - do I save energy on that ?

Hello everyone,

When I turn the screen on my iPad 1 Amazon Kindle App.

from white to a black background - with white letters (instead of black
letters)

- normally should it be, that I save energy on that

Could that be right ?

Regards from Munich Germany

You save energy per unit of time. But the difference is tiny.

You also make your eyes work harder to focus on it, because
the pupils widen due to the overall lower brightness.

If that makes you read slower (I don't know whether it does or not)
then you might actually be using _+more_ battery power.

No – i found out, that it is better to read an eBook – with black
background, and lightened letters.

In this case I became the question – that I must save energy in this
mode, because it need less energy for black background instead of
white.

I read other sources that it is for the eyes better, when the
background is black – and not so light.

That might be true.

But empirical studies have shown better readability
with dark on light.

So, like so many things, have to weigh the good and the bad and choose..

That's true of AMOLED screens, but AFAIK, it doesn't matter with LED,
where the majority of the power is consumed by the backlighting.

Perhaps, but my preference is black text on a light (but not white)
background, like light gray or a pastel color.
