Default The "up" arrow?

The iPad keyboard offers no up, down, pageup, etc.

But there is apparently either a bug or an undocumented feature
recently introduced. Several times in the past couple of weeks
(and never before that) I have been typing away, and suddenly the
insertion point jumps from the end of the text to several lines
higher up.

If you tap the top bar (i.e., where the time and signal strength indicators
are), the display will jump to the top of the page. But I don't know about
the insertion point jumping like you described. Maybe you inadvertently
touched the screen there?

No; I've had it happen in Mail but it's always whenI'm trying to type
something quickly. I don't notice it right away and don't know what I
hit to cause it.

Nope. I type with eight fingers, and it's possible that I touched the
screen at the edge of the keyboard, but certainly night several lines of
text above that.

It is my belief that there are "multiple" iPad keyboards, depending on the
task at hand. Moving the insertion point, I have found, is best accomplished
by using a finger.
