Default unwanted apps

The apps store now has a list of 10 "upgrades" to iOS5 that pop up all the
time when I look for a useful upgrade. Is there--vain hope--any way to
avoid them short of avoiding upgrading ANYTHING?

nope, unless you delete the app.

You must mean 10 upgrades to apps.

Why don't you install them?

They're all for iOS 5 changes. No thanks. It's just irritating because I
have to keep checking them to see whether they have any aplication to MY
iPad.

Your unwillingness to apply the updates is what is causing your
irritation. As the doctor says, "stop doing that". You are making a
mountain out of a mole hill. Updating the applications is a simple
button click and doesn't have adverse side effects.

sometimes it does, especially if an app requires ios 5 and will no
longer work on her ipad. other times a lot changes and the new version
is worse than the previous version. there are many reasons to not
update.

No, it just gets me a notice that it can,t be installed because I don't
want all the grief iOS5 is causing other people.

There are changes that just plain suck.
But others are nice enough to make the balance positive for me.
