Default turning off updating in iTunes?

When I run iTunes on my computer it starts downloading the apps that I have
installed on my iPad which takes time and uses more of my allocated
internet data space. I prefer to connect my iPad to update iTunes from the
apps in my iPad.
Is there any way of preventing iTunes from downloading the apps to my
computer that I have already downloaded to my iPad?

iTunes > Preferences > Store

"Automatic Downloads" heading.

Uncheck "Apps".

In other words you don't want a backup of what's on your iPad? Do you
plan to kick yourself in the butt if the iPad ever needs to be restored
from backup?

I was wondering the same thing 8-). I have things backed up on my computer
that I've turned off because I don't want them on the iPad just now but
might change my mind later. I operate on an opposong philosophy,
obviously!

If they're apps, you can uncheck them in your iPad's apps menu. (Music
& videos have the same kind of menu options)
