This seems to be the only usenet group that I could find that might be
able to help me. I have been downloading books, mostly of a
scientific nature, to my desktop computer, almost all in pdf or djvu
formats. It would be more convenient to read them on an ipad or
similar such device. One thing I have not been able to do is mark up
the ebooks with annotations and diagrams, like I can with paper books.
I can add bookmarks where I can type comments but that is all. I
understand that pens are available for use with ipads. Can you link a
graphics file, drawn with such a pen, to any point of a book you have
on your ipad? Thanks in advance for help in this area.

You can bookmark and highlight with ReaddleDocs. I did that and then saved
relevant pages for a convention I was going to, because the iPad is SO much
lighter than that program 8-)
