Do you perhaps have more then one iTunes/app store account? I ask because
here I must have used my daughter's iTunes account somehow when I first got
my original iPad, but then switched to a different one. No problems until
she changed the password on her account (I had set up all our accounts with
the same pw since I'm paying for them) then updates to certain apps failed
with that same message. I ended up deleting those apps and reinstalling
them, since they happened to all be free apps.
