I have installed media remote on my iPad and tried to use it to control my
Sony S380 blu-ray player. Does that work thru WiFi as the iPad does not
have any infra red devices to send a signal to the blu-ray player?
So far I not been able to get this app to work.

Any help would be welcome thanks.

It works only over a LAN. The Blu-Ray player has to be connected to the
LAN either via ethernet or WiFi, and the iPad also has to be connected to
the LAN.
