Does the iPad "Localization system" work like this?

--> if it's off the app "Maps" can't determine where you are and other
your friends (with iPad) can't know where you are

--> if it's on then the location (coordinates) is primary fixed by the
internal GPS chipset otherwise - in case it can't, for example because
you're inside a building - it tries to get your position looking for
near public Wi-Fi spots?

I think it needs "public" Wi-Fi because the privates aren't located,
right?

If I take a photo with the locatization system on, then will it be
geotagged, that is the JPEG contains the coordinates?

By the way, what's the model of the chipset (GPS) inside? Is there a
page where I can see ALL the HW features of iPad2 in details, RAM and
CPU, too?

And where can I see the amount of RAM used by my iPad?

you mean location services, and it can be turned on globally or
individually for each app.

localization is for switching languages.

right.

it uses gps, wifi and/or cellular, depending on how accurate it needs
to be and a good gps (not the iphone) can get a gps fix indoors. the
iphone could locate inside a building if there is one or more wifi
networks that have been mapped.

they can be if the wifi network can be picked up on the street and it
was mapped.

Apple usually doesn't disclose that information; however, iFixit.com has
much of that information.

There are utilities in the app store that can tell you that information;
also iTunes on the Mac or Windows computers can give you that information
too if the iPad is connected (either via USB or WiFi).

Mmm.. could you show me where to find, please?

What folder of iTunes sync? I can't find information about RAM used
(under Summary, Info, Apps, etc), I can only see the capacity.

I suppose you mean the WiFi networks detected by Google Streets cars
and similar others.. right?

(is there a way to know if my private WiFi was stored by these kind of
cars?)

Just go to www.ifixit.com and enter "ipad teardown" in the search bar.

At the bottom of the window; it shows capacity followed by a multi-colored
bar, below the bar is a list of how much disk space each category of files
occupies. For instance, on my iPhone, there are 3.6 GB of audio, 1.44 GB
of video, 0.29 GB of photos, 2.3 GB of apps, 0.16 GB of books, 0.69 GB of
"other" and 5.7 GB free.

That's storage, not memory. The OP wants to know how much system RAM
memory is being used by apps, I believe.

His earlier concern that his iPad's time wasn't accurate to the
millisecond leads me to guess that he won't take "don't worry about it,
the device manages it all for you" as a satisfactory answer!

You're right. But as I said, there are third-party utilities, available
through the App Store, that will tell him that.

How accurate are those numbers? When I performed a back-up recently of
my iPad2 to my MacBook Pro, the iPad2 indicated it had roughly 9 GB free
but the bar said it was overloaded by >32 GB.
