Default iPad orientation

Suddenly, my iPad won't go into landscape mode. I've checked to make
sure I didn't inadvertantly flip the orientation lock and also checked
in settings to make sure I hadn't done it there. Googling got me lots
of information about how to lock under 4.2 or make changes under 4.3
but I didn't find anything about possible things one might do which
would lock the orientation.

My question is, have any of you encountered this and if so, is there a
fix? I can only wonder if, perhaps, an update to some app I have
installed may be the culprit and, if that's the case, might a reset
resolve the issue?

Have you tried restarting the iPad?

Geez...I tried everything I could think of and didn't even think that
the iPad probably could be completely shut down and restarted just like
my iPhone. God loves idiots; that's why he made so many of us.

Seriously, thanks for the tip...it worked. ;-)

My mom had the same issue with her iPad 2. A visit to the Apple store
only resulted in them restarting the iPad and sending her home. I think
Apple may have some work to do to fix this issue on the iPad 2. ; )

I got this bug several mpnths ago on my iPad 2.
Simply switch off and restart, it fix and i do not have the same problem
since.

Switch Off : not sleep.
Press the OFF/ON button for seeral seconds : it switch off the iPad.
A slide will ask you if you want to switch off : confirm.
Wait a few seconds.
Press again once the button.
After a few secopnd you should seee the Apple logo : showing that the
ipad is restarting.
