Can someone sync its iPad over WiFi?
I tried many times but I can't.. what could cause my problem? Here're my actors: - iPad2 iOS 5.01 (dynamic IP, usually 192.168.0.50) connected via WiFi to router - WinXP (static IP, 192.168.0.3) connected via Ethernet to router - router Linksys WAG54GS (static IP, 192.168.0.1) - Windows iTunes 10.5.3.3 Here's my scenario: - iTunes "Sync with this iPhone over Wi-Fi" checked - router firewall: iTunes ports (TCP 123 and 3689, UDP 123 and 5353) open - WinXP UPnP running - router UPnP running - sync works good between iPad2 and WinXP if they are connected by USB cable but sync it doesn't work at all if they are connected to router by WiFi - I followed all the hints in http://osxdaily.com/2011/10/13/wi-fi...ne-ipad-ios-5/ and https://discussions.apple.com/thread...art=0&tstart=0 In page iPad2 \ General \ iTunes WiFi Sync you always see "Sync now" button gray (that is disabled). Why? On the other hand from this page I read iPad2 sync will be resumed when "MYCOMPUTER" will be available (maybe iPad2 can't resolve "MYCOMPUTER" into 192.168.0.3?) Other ideas? TIA, Max |

That message on your iPad about "sync will resume when MYCOMPUTER etc" is normal for when the tick is missing. I'd try a systematic series of things. 1. Double check wifi working well with everything. 2. Untick the wifi sync in iTunes. Reload iTunes, and do a USB sync. If everything works ok put the tick back in, reload iTunes, have a try. Ed |

What do you mean with tick for WiFi sync, maybe the name of my iPad ("MYPADNAME") in the left part of iTunes? Well, I haven't it when I try via WiFi while I see it if I connect the USB cable for noWiFi sync. >That message on your iPad about "sync will resume when MYCOMPUTER etc" >is normal for when the tick is missing. I was thinking if my iPad can (or can't) resolve the MYCOMPUTER into 192.168.0.3. The reason of my suspects is based on the fact that if I try to connect http://MYNAS, I can't, while connecting http://192.168.0.2 it works. Is there any way to "ping" MYCOMPUTER from iPad to check it's reachable? >1. Double check wifi working well with everything. It works good. If >everything works ok put the tick back in, reload iTunes, have a try. Do you mean I have to disconnect the USB cable (after the sync worked) and immediately try to sync via WiFi? Already tried.. ![]() |

Mmm.. could it be the cause? Is running in your computer? |

Already tried.. ![]() If You load iTunes on your PC, plug the iPad into your PC via USB and it appears in the left pane of iTunes, then it is reachable; no need to ping anything. If it's reachable by USB, then that's a great deal proven working. If your iPad can also surf and do email, then the iPad's wifi is working. That leaves only one point; wifi between PC and iPad through your wireless router. Does it appear on your router's Wireless clients? If no, that's the problem to solve. If yes, then we've reduced it to an even smaller problem area; that between iTunes and your router. And this should be solved by a simple tick in iTunes. Ed |

In the end the sync worked good!
Following this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1275 I checked all the services Apple needs (iTunesHelper, Apple Mobile Device, Bonjour, iPod service, QTTask, ...) and restarted PC, and it worked.. Thanks to all |

Well, to be honest the _real_ problem was AVG!
iTunes WiFi sync is blocked but AVG firewall: http://forums.avg.com/us-en/avg-foru...show&id=177320 |
