Default iOS 5.0.1 vs Stanza

After installing iOS 5.0.1 in my 3rd gen iPod Touch, I re-installed
Stanza, just to see what happened.

It seems to be working.

I performed a number of operations, setting various config values,
deleting "Alice in Wonderland," downloading a handful of books from my
Calibre server and reading a few pages from some of them.

Everything worked normally.

I only found out after the fact that Stanza didn't work under iOS 5.0. I
held off updating my "original" iPad because of the loss of Stanza; now
I'm thinking I might take the plunge.

Anybody else with reports about Stanza and iOS 5.0.1, good or bad?

They just came out today with an update to Stanza that is supposedly
IOS5 compatible (although there
still seem to be some complaints).

Stanza just had an update to version 3.2 11/10/11, although Amazon
has indicated this is the last update.

Reports from other sources indicate this update works with iOS5.

Please keep posting your findings. A functional Stanza may well be my
most important app on my 3rd gen iPod and I cannot affort to lose it.
Have put off IOS 5 for that very reason. Nice to see that Amazon did a
patch to it.

For me, under iOS 4.3.5, the latest Stanza crashes immediately upon
launch, every single time. Both on a 1st gen iPad and 4th gen iPod touch.

Worse, reverting to a previous version (through Time Machine) doesn't
work either. I can get the older Stanza in iTunes just fine, but upon
syncing -- after choosing "Don't Transfer" the newer Stanza from the
iPod to iTunes, which according to the dialog should remove the new
Stanza from the iPod -- the new Stanza remains on the iPod. (As
indicated by [1] it still crashing on launch, and [2] getting the
"Transfer/Don't transfer" dialog on every next synch.)

I can no doubt delete Stanza through the iPod's GUI and then install
Stanza 3.1, but I'd lose all Stanza's data then. Books I can reinstall.
But on what page I was in each book, and how I had categorized/labeled
them, would be a bit of a drag to lose.

Anybody else see this? Any solutions?

On my gen 3 iPod, Stanza running 4.3.5, Stanza 3.1 is running prefectly.
I will be very careful not to allow the new "upgrade." What a mess.

I have a book in Stanza in DJVU format. It opens fine but displays the
pages in the original paper page format making it much to small to read.
The book is unaffected by the font size preference. I can read the book
on my Mac in MacDjView just fine, but it would be more convenient on my
iPod. Any ideas?

I think it's working now. Someone told me that it's fixed, and I
checked it to sync again, and it appears to be fixed.

But I can't get the apps heading to show update date. I just now
looked in /Users/HBrazee/Music/iTunes/Mobile Applications to see that
Stanza 3.2.ipa was updated today. (For some reason I can't turn on the
check in the apps header to show the updated date).

Well, it's strange. If you pull up the 3.2 update in the iTunes store
and set the comments to five stars, looking at yesterday's comments, you
get scores of Thank you lord it's working again!! And if you set it to
one star, you get a bunch of Shit - it's still broken even after iOS5
and 3.2.

I had the same problem on both of my iPods (one an 8GB 2nd gen
with OS 4.2.1, and the other a 32GB with OS 4.3.5) Fortunately,
I had a copy of the pre-update version of Stanza on a spare
laptop, and that one works. Meanwhile, I lost my ebook downloads
(just free ones while I was testing Stanza).

The new Stanza breaks on older iPods.

See above. I wish that I did not lose the page data of the books
and the categories.

Starting all over, again.

Was the 32 GB a gen 2 also?
