Default How to set time (seconds)

iPad2 5.01: it seems like you can't set up the time exactly since when
you set up the minutes, the seconds aren't good.. in practise seconds
are always about +20 or -40.. why?

How can I exactly set up the time of my iPad?

Mine sets its time to match that of my PC whenever I sync it.

And, since moving to iOS 5.x I've noticed that the time on the iPad
doesn't drift nearly as much as on 4.x; it's stayed within +/- 10
seconds for a week or more at a time.

I use the free Emerald Time app to check the iPad's time, although the
app can't set the time.

I'm a newbie, please tell me how to.

But do you confirm that when you set up the minute, then the seconds
don't become zero as you expect but stays.. about +20 seconds or -40
seconds around the right time?

it's automatic any time you sync. to sync, launch itunes and attach the
ipad with the dock cable.

you don't need to set up anything. the time is set for you.

Done and launched sync but the time remains the same, some seconds far
from the _exact_ time. Why? Have I to set up any kind of option in
iTunes?

I don't know why, but if I connect the USB cable to my PC and the
(iTunes) sync is performed, the time of my iPad remains the same: it
doesn't change at all!

Are you sure sync sets automatically time?

I used to think the same, but when I actually checked the time before and
after, I found that iTunes did set the time on my iPad when I did the sync.

Yes. I don't recall doing anything special, either in iTunes or on the iPad
to enable this time setting to take place.

Are you sure the time on your PC is correct? I use a free NTP client on my
PC which keeps the time correct to within a few milliseconds.

yes, since that's how my ipad was set. the time also drifts, and
whenever i sync, the time is updated (it's sometimes a minute or two
off, the drift is pretty bad).

my mac queries an ntp time server regularly and updates its clock and
it's rarely more than a second or two off. why can't the ipad do that
on its own?

Well, I'm sure my PC (Win XP + iTunes 10.5.1.42) doesn't change at all
the time of my iPad you I sync it (I changed the time of my iPad 10
minutes before the PC time and after the sync it remained 10 minutes
before the PC time)

I don't know why, maybe because of my Windows XP? :O
