Default how do I turn off auto assistant (or what ever it's called

When I'm trying a pop up try's to assist me in finding correct work I'm
typing and if I press the spacebar it will insert the pop up word.

How do I turn this feature off? It gets in the way rather than being
helpful.

You can also temporaly unaccept the proposition (correction or
misunderstood) by typing on the pop-up.

To remove permanently the correction/proposition assistant :
- Settings > General > Keyboard
- Auto-correction : OFF

IMO, the biggest thing you can do is stop trying not to make typing
mistakes and instead focus on training the phone to learn how you type.
I think most people don't get this:

iOS auto correction is actually quite smart, and will get much better in
a short amount of time - but ONLY if you train it!

The spell checker doesn't change any words without your permission:

* Your action of proceeding to the next word without tapping the [x] to
indicate you don't want the suggested correction effectively gives the
OS permission to do the correction.

* Your action of tapping the [x] to indicate you don't want the
suggested correction effectively tells the OS you did not mean to type
the suggested correction, which reduces the weight of that correction.

As you type, type each word to completion, and then look at the
suggested correction. It's important that you type as much of the word
as possible - even when you know full well there is a typo. The trick is
to focus on typing complete words before stopping rather than stopping
as soon as you see a correction pop up. Relax and just type the complete
word! This allows the OS to learn how you type, and which mistakes you
may make frequently. After typing the full word, look to see which
correction the OS suggests. If a suggested correction is not of your
liking, tap the little [x] by the correction to dismiss it, and fix the
word. The OS will learn over time (and more quickly than you might
think) which words you typically misspell and which corrections you find
acceptable. You will soon find the OS guessing the correct words much
more frequently.

It may seem extremely simple and trivial, but it happens to be very
effective. Try it out, and I'll bet you very soon you will find it
suggesting words that are much more accurate when you do mistype.

You mean tapping, not typing, right?

Autocorrect is the biggest nuisance on any phone..! IMHO of course. I
hate it.

I, like many others, watch the keyboard while I'm typing, and NOT the
screen where the typing is appearing. I'm not a touch typist.

So I usually missed all those autocorrect stupidities before I turned
the "feature" off. Sometimes I'd be careful enough to read through what
I'd typed before sending off an email or text, but sometimes I wouldn't
- I'd hit 'Send' - then notice in amazement that what I'd sent had
absolutely nothing to do with what I thought I'd typed.

If you insist on using autocorrect incorrectly, it's probably better to
turn it off.

If you insist on misusing the feature, it's pretty ridiculous to be
upset that it's not working well.
