flip page by page and look for it.

you can launch an app by name from the spotlight page (left of the
first home screen) but you can't find where it actually is. very
stupid.

you can store them in seperate folders, move them any where you want
for quick reference, lot of options

sure, but if you forget where they are (which is very easy if they're
buried in folders) you have to manually search to find it. it's really
stupid.

it would be very useful if it could auto-scroll to the relevant home
screen and open the folder if it's in one.

I can't have a shortcut in two different folders for an app that fits
two different categories.

So, in on my iPad or on my iTunes, I know it's somewhere - but have to
search for it.

Not on the iPad itself but in iTunes before sync just set Apps to sort
by Name and then click on the App and move it to the page or folder you
want.

I would also prefer to do it on the iPad itself.

Interesting. While it doesn't find where it is now, it does allow me
to move it to a folder of my choice.

Yes. And I still want to know where the app is now.

I avoid folders outside Pages. If I'm not using an app, I turn it off on
the iPad(but leave it in the back-up). Other than that, I have related
ones on the same page, which does involve moving some at times, but so far
I have room for them.

what do you mean you 'turn it off on the ipad' ?

if that means unchecking the app in itunes, then the app is removed
from the ipad along with its documents, and then when you do another
backup, it will be removed from there too (the backup is a clone of the
existing state of the device). that could be why you lost documents.
you deleted them.

It's a computer, damnit. It should be able to show them
sorted by a variety of criteria, not the least of which
would be simply by name. We shouldn't have to manage this
stuff manually.

That'd be cool, too. When I use Spotlight on a Mac, I can
have it show me the file. No reason iOS couldn't do the
same (a least at the App level).
