Default easy way to get selected photos from MacBookPro to iPad without iPhotos

Fairly new to MacBookPro and iPad. I have a lot of photos in many
folders on my computer. I don't use iPhoto, but CS5 and Bridge.

I can't work out how to put some selected photos on my iPad without
first making a folder on the Mac and copying them there, then syncing
that folder to the iPad. That seems kind of dumb to have to duplicate
them.

I tried iPhoto but didn't like it.

Suggestions? Thanks.

Diane

Aperture, which is Apple's pro-level indexing and pre-processing (i.e.,
before bringing into Photoshop) software. Excellent complement to
Photoshop. Non-destructive editing, no duplication of images, choice of
storage schemes, interfaces with iTunes just as iPhoto does in order to
transfer photos to your iPad.

I don't know how iTunes stores photos--is it iTunes database only?
Aperture lets you choose that method if you wish, or you may put your
photos in a directory of your choosing on a HD and have Aperture access
them from your folder. It's either, or, however; otherwise images would
be duplicated.

You might want to look at Dropbox.

That's attractive. I assume it has the ability to import from
iPhoto. My biggest issues with iPhoto are:

1. If I open the iPhoto on my wife's computer from my computer, it
starts a brand new database. We can't both update the same iPhoto
database.

2. If I copy her iPhoto package to my computer using ChronoSync, I
have to manually delete the cache before I synchronize my iPhoto with
my iPad.

3. I can't tell my iPad that I want the last 3 years, or the most
current 5 MB of photos synchronized.

I have some hopes that I can tell my iPad to synchronize wireless with
her iPhoto library, but synchronize everything else with my computer.
But not much expectation. We'll see.

I had no idea iTunes had a photo database of its own. I don't have
Aperture. Where would this database be? It could be a big waste
of space having copies of my iPhoto database.

That surprises me. I've put a single iTunes DB
on s FreeBsd disk and used it by NFS on three Macs.

So it surprises me that iPhoto can't do something similar.

It surprises me that Apple hasn't put more resources in making all of
its software more group friendly. Or has it conceded the business
markeg to Microsoft?

I don't care for iPhoto, but my iPad does, so I use it, but ONLY to make
folders for my iPad. I just import them into iPhoto and onto a folder I
create there. Most of them aren't even photos, though 8-). It's a handy way
to make folders of anything you can turn into a .jpg. I have several
folders of sheet music, for instance, as well as some maps and directions
to places I want accessible when I'm offline.

I have that and hadn't thought of using it for foto folders, but I have
made fotos of travel book pages. Unfortunately, it needs an internet
connection

Hmmm, if one has sufficient disk space, it might be worth while having
multiple iPhoto libraries - being better able to control what photos
get synchronized to my iPad (iTunes is limited that way).

I'll have to look into how difficult it is to copy events from one
iPhoto library to another.

Dropbox?

Possibly coupled to Goodreader. Store all my technical docs / photo's
etc. that way.
Goodreader lets you store whole directories locally for offline use.
