Default disconnecting?

Every so often( it jusy happened again a few minutes ago) my iPad tells me
it's not connected to the internet a few feet away. I go to settings.
Sometimes it IS connected. Sometimes it looks for it amd connects. A couple
days ago it refused to stay connected. Nothing worked. TV/DVR and laptop
were connected--all using the same connection. After while when I turned
on the iPad again, all was fine and dandy.

Why?

Perhaps it's sulking about its camera?

It doesn't need one; I carry a real one I can stick in a smaller pocket
than the iPad needs or hang from my neck 8-)

Some servers automatically disconnect if there's no activity for a
specified period of time.

I have noticed this in some hotels, but it has happened a few minutes after
it HAS. been working, and it never disconnects from laptop or TV/DVR.

Note: this is AT HOME, on my own network, when everything is connected
with no hiatus.

I have been having the same problem. I read somewhere that an update from
Apple would correct the problem. NOT. In my case, the wireless router is on
my desk nearby. It's an easy matter to pull the power on the router, wait a
few seconds , then plug it back in. The router reboots, the Ipad I is
connected till the next time, usually a couple of days later, and I'm a
happy camper. A bit of as nuisance, but manageable.

I tried that once as a last resort, but it really gives my DVR hissy fits
and it's a while before I can watch TV again. I used to have to do that
periodically for my computer, but then nothing else was using the same
modem and router. The new modem that came with the digital cable
installation has been behaving for DVR and computer even when the iPad
loses its connection. It's something iPad-specific, whatever it is.

I've been reading this and had this exact problem when I first got my
iPad but cannot remember what I did so haven't responded. But since
you've been unsuccessful I'll tell you what I do remember just in case
it might help.

When I first got my iPad I was battery paranoid. I turned off
everything that I didn't need that was running in the background to
save the battery. Of course that was silly but I was fresh off a
battery hungry netbook. That's when the problem started.

The WiFi stayed connected as long as it was being used occasionally
but if I read a long newspaper article I would look up and the icon
was gone and I had to go restart it.

My theory at the time was those push services that I turned off
somehow kept it busy and it didn't turn off. So I just started putting
them back and at some point the problem vanished. As I said I don't
remember the specifics though.

Since that time the problem has not reoccurred but I doubt that my
theory was correct. Perhaps it was some specific problem between my
iPad and wireless router. I've since changed to a new dual band
wireless router and am using the 5G band and still have not had a
reoccurrence.

Do you have the problem at hotspots? If yes that probably would
eliminate the specific router theory. Other than that I have no more
ideas. I have always looked at such problems like a good fist fight.
You just keep hitting the opponent over and over
until he goes down...

Good Luck.

I've done that when I was expecting to be using the iPad away from home or
some other wi-fi connection for a while, but not all the time. I've also
had most if not all push notifications off as a regular thing.

At some hotels/motels I've lost my connection each time the iPad
went to sleep, at others not. On my last trip, that happened at the hotel I
was in overnight on my way to one where I stayed a week and never lost it
even when the iPad and I were gone for the day.
