Default Check spelling in a differnet lang

I'd like to keep my iPad in English even if I'm not English.

However it's so boring when you're typing and it checks any words in
English. Can I set a different lang for the check spelling?

I can do it on my Nokia phone..

It will check according to which keyboard you select.
It is not by the UI language.

Under General \ Interantional \ Keyboards I have:

- English (QWERTY, U.S.)
- Italian (QWERTY, Italian)

So, when I write on my iPad which keyboard is used? The first
(English) or the second (Italian) one?

The one you have checked in the Input menu in the menu bar.

Whoops. Sorry; I didn't pay attention to what newsgroup I was reading. My
answer was for the Mac, not the iPad.

I turned it off on my iPad because it kept inserting errors. The one one
my laptop just hints and lets me decide or actually teach it my
idiosyncracies. In fact, it seems to be learning German gradually 8-)

I've just discovered the "World" button on the soft keyboard of my
iPad!

It permits to change "on the fly" the lang and (then) the correction.
That's good for me..

Umm... So does the iPad. You apparently just don't know how to use it
properly. That's a shame, because it actually does learn quite quickly,
and makes typing on it much better than without it.

I don't watch every word in the middle as I type it and once I was past an
inserted error it wasn't learning when I had to go back several words later
to get rid of its interference.
