Rumour; Apple chose its icon in honour of Alan Turing who committed
suicide by eating a cyanide-laced one.

We can't ask Steve Jobs now.
Does anybody know the answer?

According to Isaacson, when he asked Jobs that question, Steve replied
that he wished that he'd thought of that, but hadn't.

Also Rob Janoff, who designed the logo, has described this story as a
legend:

Be careful around cyanide laced icons.

Good point, the Apple logo is not really intended to be eaten anyway.

That's what God said to Adam in Eden.

If that apple had been laced with cyanide, the problem would have solved
itself.

I'm not so sure.
It was the fruit of the tree of carnal knowledge; original sin. And God
got so upset that he not only banished the naughty pair from Eden but he
introduced death too.

God would have done better by being a little less naive. There's always
some snake in Eden; and there was before the Fall too.

No, it was the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

No worries. We'll destroy ourselves soon enough without any help from
above.
