Default an alternative program for FaceTime

As FaceTime seems to work if both people use FaceTime Is there another
program I can use for the iPad so I can view and talk to another person who
does not have FaceTime?
I don't know of anyone who has an iPad to try FaceTime with.

Skype is probably the best solution for now.
It works on lot of platform (from PC/Windows, MacOS X, iPhone...) and
has a lot of registered users.

All video/chat solution need the both user to be registered (and the
application active).

Only problem with Skype is that it does not use Apples notifications, so
the app needs to be loaded into memory all the time to be able to receive
calls.

Facetime works with iPhones and Macintoshes as well.

Thanks for your repies.
Would Skype on the iPad use the iPads camera to allow a person, using
Skype on his PC Computer, to see me?
