Default Will VGA output from Apple II be stretched...

Will VGA output from Apple II be stretched when viewed on a wide
aspect 16:9 LCD monitor.
I'm specifically looking to get a BENQ G619HDPL and use it with my
Carte Blanche card.

Thanks in advance.

My guess would be yes.

Having said that, you could modify the CB VGA controller...

Some 16:9 monitors have a feature to disable "stretching" ... check the
settings. On my HP L2445 it is called "custom scaling" and can be set to
"fill to screen" (i.e. stretch and distort), "fill to aspect ratio" (i.e.
stretch and maintain aspect ratio), or "1-to-1" (i.e. no stretch,
pixel-for-pixel).

I haven't tried it with non-PC VGA sources, but it works fine with various
sized 4:3 ratio displays.

I have two different wide monitor setups. Both have the option of
stretching or not. It's not a function of the incoming signal; it's a
function of the displaying monitor.

Thanks for all the replies.
I have tried to see if I can find any more info on the BENQ monitor
that I am considering purchasing, and if it has the 1-to-1 option.
Unfortunately I have not been able to find any information yet. I'll
keep searching, or maybe I'll try to track down a shop that sells them
in store.

Thanks again

Phil

Note that any monitor without a 1:1 mode (should be the default) is
worthless for photo editing--a major app.
