Default Sword of Sodan: the 2010 demo

Paris - August 29th, 2010 - Sword of Sodan: the 2010 demo

Twenty years after its initial release, download the updated Apple
IIgs demo version of Sword of Sodan by Brutal Deluxe Sofware at
http://www.brutal-deluxe.fr/projects/sos/

The original demo is (c) Visionware, Inc. and the original program is
(c) Soren Gronbech and Torben Larsen.

The buried routines of the original IIgs demo are now unveiled: the
introduction and help pages, the hall of fame animation and the inter-
level screens. The modified source code is included in the disk image
provided.

The added items were collected from various places on the web, mainly
from the longplay video of the game on youtube.com.

Will we ever see the playable 3-level game of Sword of Sodan?

Awesome work as always, guys. It's amazing to see this demo inch along
piece by piece years after the fact.

When you say 'The added items were collected from various places on
the web', which items are you talking about?

Thanks, Wade. I hope some designer may enhance the horrible pictures
I've included.

The collected items are:
- sound: "select hero or heroine"
- pictures: help 1, help 2, hall of fame, map, scroll, castle
- texts: refer to DATA.TEXT.S where I've added all the official
sentences from the original Amiga program (even though there are not
used)

The added pictures are uncompressed and can be viewed from the Finder
with your favorite picture viewer (PicViewer I hope)

Then, it was a big work to understand and comment the necessary
routines to perform the update but that was not sufficient to make it
playable,
antoine

Antoine,

It is really awesome, and I hope one day we'll see it as close to the
finished product as possible.

I loved BD's work, The Tinies, LemminGS; especially with 1942, though
I have secretly wished to see 1943 as well.

Love to see more from BD !

Thanks for your message, we appreciate :-)

Thanks to Alex Lee from What is the Apple IIgs website, some pictures
are now similar to the Commodore Amiga ones. A new version of the demo
has just been uploaded @ http://www.brutal-deluxe.fr/projects/sos/

Regards,

Antoine

What has to be done so that this runs on the IIgs emulator webpage?
