Announcing: SNAP - Speccie's News Acquisition Program

Update release v1.1

This is an update release of SNAP, which fixes a multitude of bugs, as
well as introducing many enhanced features. Please read the manual fully
to see what has changed, and what has been been enhanced. A IIgs
readable manual is included with the archive package, or alternatively,
download the enhanced PDF manual.
SNAP is an online NNTP News Client for the IIgs

SNAP accesses Usenet and NNTP news servers, right from your IIgs
desktop.
SNAP gives you multiple server configurations, with custom Group lists,
allowing you to easily tailor your daily news fix.
SNAP lets you Post messages, or Followup existing messages.
SNAP will optionally Forward or Reply to a message through a normal SMTP
mail account.
SNAP is ideal for accessing the A2Central, or CSA2 news Forums.

SNAP requires a IIgs running Marinetti 3.0b3 or later.
SNAP works best with a direct connection to the Net, such as that from
an Ethernet card.

SNAP is available from http://www.wannop.info/speccie/

Version 1.1.1 is now available. It fixes a really minor issue with tab-order in a configuration dialog box.

I'm using it right now to post this followup.

....And the time was an hour too early. Let's see if this change in the TimeZone CDEV fixed it...

Yes, it did.

Now the next feature that this program needs is more MIME-parsing options!
UTF-8 support! The works!

Would you care to rewrite the Font Tool for the IIgs, so it supports
more than the 128 ASCII characters?

Can you give me an example of messages that do not display correctly,
and I can see what I can do.

For compatibility, I used the Shaston 8 font for the main displays. This
could always be changed to the Spectrum 8 font, which supports a few
more characters.

As embedded HTML is not usual in group messages, I did not support that
directly, but again, that is always possible.

Certainly not; I was being facetious. :-)

Some author names in this newsgroup had been encoded with MIME-words, like:
=?ISO-8859-1?Q?andr=E9_lozano?=

That can be addressed. I will see what I can do for the next update.
