Default Running 8 bit software under GSOS

Sorry if this is a dumb question, it seems so simple but I've searched and I
can't find the answer anywhere. Is it possible to run Apple IIe software
under the GSOS 6.0.1 GUI from a hard drive? Or do you need to reboot GSOS
and then boot from the 5.25" floppy as you would on an Apple IIe? Thanks in
advance for you help

An 8-bit ProDOS application will run fine under GSOS. The ProDOS 8
launcher takes over, runs your app, and then exits back to GSOS when
it's done. You can't run DOS apps this way - it's not a boxed virtual
machine - but it works well for ProDOS.

Here is a related tip that I wished I had known earlier:

If you are in the ProDOS BASIC.SYSTEM, type BYE to exit. This will take you
back to GS/OS, or a program launcher.
