Default Mac LC IIe card and error code #1

Hello There,
I have several Macs at home (e.g. Mac LC, LC II) and a IIe card.
The prerequisites are correct on the Mac (OS version, bit depth, and
so on)
I've installed card, the cable, the software and...

....each time I run the software, I get an alert window: your card is
defective, error code #1

I've been unable to find any info on that error code, any clue or
pointer please? I think the card is dead but I'd like to be sure.

Thank you,
antoine

I've used several IIe cards and never seen that. Not very helpful, I
know, but do you have another one you can try in the same machine(s)?

Also, I know this goes without saying, but make sure the Macs are
using 24-bit addressing.

I vaguely remember there being a problem like this that could occur if
the version of the software you have for the card was an older
version. The latest version is available on the web, so hunting it
down could be worth the effort.
