Default IIgs RAM

Hi,

I have a CV Technologies Memory card for my IIgs which has 3 out of 4 banks
filled (3 MB out of a possible 4 MB). When I look closely at the chips that
are already on the board I see that they're labelled "MCM511000AP10".

1. For "normal" IIgs use (games, apps, etc) would I benefit from filling the
4th bank with another 1 MB of memory?
2. If yes, is there any way to know if these chips would work before buying
them? --> http://www.gerberelec.com/browse/?PartNo=MCM511000AP-10

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.

That looks like a compatible part, but I would swallow hard before paying that
much for a vanilla 1Mx1 DIP DRAM. Have you checked eBay?

Thanks Steven. I checked eBay but I couldn't find anything. I did manage to
find a photo of my exact card with the same 3 banks populated but it looks
like they've mixed the chips. The different ones that they added are
labelled TC511000AP-10:

Trying to hunt down 8 of those now... Wish me luck!

Hi Steven,

Do you think this would work?

Hi!

I have a working AE GS-RAM Plus card that has a KM41C1000P-8 as
one of its chips. All the others are TC511000P-10. So, you should be
OK. Just be sure the shipping cost of $5 applies to ALL you buy, not
for each chip.

Yup, I agree. The criteria are 1Mx1 and 100nsec (or faster) access time.
And, $1.20 each is about the right price.
