Default iBook on Apple IIGS programming for kids

Just written a multitouch iBook on Apple IIGS programming for kids.
Plenty of Complete Pascal, Orca/Pascal and GSoft BASIC source codes!
You can see the codes come alive with videos!

If you have an iPad with iBooks 2 app, you can download a early draft
here:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/614659/Virtual%20GS.ibooks

Any suggestions welcome!

Any way of making it compatible with ibooks under ios 4.3.3?

Thanks for being the first with an Apple2 ibook!

Not now, as iBooks Author is only supporting iBooks 2 format (for iOS
5) and iPad only. The only other possibilities is to published via
PDF, but will lost the video/interactivity stuffs. In the example
codes, I do have videos for the program output and those will be lost.

The book is still in early form, now have all the source codes done,
but lack the starting and ending.

My main aim is to get the Apple II History (apple2history.org) content
published as book, or worked with some Apple II historian to design a
book (so that I can owned an Apple II book). We really do deserve a
book for our community.

That's pretty sweet, and thanks for sharing it with the community!
I've purchased all of the ByteWorks products previously, and loaded
the manuals for the compilers, etc. into iBooks for handy reference as
I manage to find a bit of time to play around with programming on my
two Apple IIGS's (a ROM1 and a ROM3), or on an emulated machine. I've
now added your eBook, and will surely find the code samples useful in
learning the languages you used. I had been programming for a living
for a couple of years already before I ever owned my first "PC" (an
Apple II+), and I have maintained fror years that the older machines
provide an excellent platform for kids to learn about the concepts
involved in programming, so I appreciate what you've been doing with
your website, and now this eBook. It's great to see young people
develop an appreciation for the classic machines that a lot of us
still hold onto and love.

Thanks. I guess Apple is confusing me. I am running iBooks 2 on my
iPad2, under ios4.3.3. Your book tells me it needs ios5.0.1. iBooks2
itself doesn't need 5.0.1. So I was asking if your book could be made
to run in iBooks2 under ios4.3.3. I guess not, for reasons Apple
doesn't say. ;-)

Wow, that's new to me! So is the first draft working fine for you as
an eBook? Remember that the default orientation is horizontal - it
might not look as good on vertical orientation.

Now I just hope I can share the Apple II History eBook... that one
looks nice as I love the articles from apple2history.org. we just need
to make it into a book.

Thanks!

For anybody without iBooks 2 or iPad, here's the PDF version:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/614659/Virtual%20GS.pdf

The PDF version retains the look, but lack interactiveness and video
(showing how the program works).

I hope I can distribute this book when it is done for free (I am still
not sure how iBookstore works), and also help to work on any Apple II
related books.
